TELEPHONES & CELLULAR PHONES

Barbados has a dependable, island-wide telephone service run by Bartel. Because the phone system is linked to the United States DDD system (our area code is 246) credit card calls can be made direct. Check with your hotel for specific instructions and rates.
If you have a Cell phone you can bring your own and have it programmed here or rent one locally through Cellcom at 434-CELL.

PRINT MEDIA

We have two local dailies, the Nation and The Barbados Advocate. A bi-weekly regional paper, Caribbean Week, is also available island-wide. Two visitor publications come out every two weeks as well, The Visitor and Sunseeker, and are available free at most tourist outlets.

RADIO/TELEVISION

Government runs the one local television station under the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) banner. It now also offers Subscription Television (STV), which provides viewers access to CNN, ESPN, LIFETIME and a number of other overseas stations.
In additions, DirectTV is now here under private operations and most hotels provide one of these international viewing services.

INTERNET ACCESS/EMAIL

Barbados is the cutting-edge island in the region for Internet and related services. Barbados-oriented and based websites abound and there are currently three dependable Internet servers available to the public: www.caribsurf.com, www.sunbeach.net and www.ndl.net.
