The two pillars of the Arch display the Dolphin symbolic of the fishing industry, the Pelican representing a small island named Pelican Island which existed off Barbados, later becoming part of the Deep Water Harbour Development, the National Flower from the Barbados Coat of Arms, and the Broken Trident from the National Flag.
