Barbados has proudly became the final home of the British Airways Concorde since 2003, after its fleet was retired that same year and the decision was made to loan the G-BOAE Concorde to the people of Barbados in recognition of the role that the island played in Concorde’s success. The Barbados Concorde Experience officially opened the Concorde Museum on April 16th 2007
Because the island was the most easterly of the Caribbean islands, and had the infrastructure to accommodate planes of that size, Barbados was fortunate to became one of four primary flight destinations in the world. The other three were London, Paris and New York
The Concorde made its first trip to Barbados in 1913 to take Her Majesty the Queen back to England
