Freights Bay in Barbados has a sheltered beach located not far from
Oistins Town fishing village, and is a popular surf spot with the south coast crowd.
The bay here is tiny, surrounded by cliffs, and features medium waves with some undertow most of the year.
Freights Bay is also known for its spectacular cliff-top ocean view and sunsets. There is also the occasional sea turtle sighting.
Although waters here can be calm at times, it is very rocky with a small shoreline and is not well suited for swimming. However during low tide there are some natural rock pools for sea bathing.
Some surfers also use the
Cotton House Bay beach entrance which is also located in the Freights Bay area.
Freights Bay Beach can be found on the
South Coast of Barbados in the parish of Christ Church.
NOTE:
This beach is located in a residential area with the entrance to the beach situated between expensive homes, so be mindful of your behaviour and where you park.CAUTION Rocks and reef has very sharp edges
