Independence Square

The Independence Square in Barbados was formerly a car park and known for its political meetings, this area has since been transformed into a recreational square and garden for the pleasure of locals and visitors.

This 50,000 sq. ft. (approx.) open area was reopened in 2007 and is located between the Chamberlain Bridge & the Charles Duncan O'Neal Bridge, with a view of the Careenage, Heroes Square and the Public Buildings.

Independence Square features seating areas, an amphitheatre, two fountains and a 9ft statue of the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow, as well as washroom facilities for males, females and the physically challenged.

When in this area you can also check out the Indendence Arch and the other historic sites in Bridgetown, or maybe take a stroll along the waterfront on the Bridgetown Boardwalk.
