The CELEBRATIONS OF RHYTHM SHOW in Barbados is now held at Pirate's Cove and is an ole-time Bajan Lime, Cultural Show and Street Party, with an Caribbean explosion of tropical colours and authentic local culture, complimented by a night of great entertainment featuring the best of all things Barbadian.
The Celebrations Of Rhythm cultural experience showcases the island’s heritage and culture through food, art, craft, music and performing arts …offering visitors an authentic peek into the roots of West Indian and Bajan life.
The show features a 10-piece drum corps and 14 dancers, along with the powerful lead vocals of songstress Ayana John. Stilt-men, Mother-sallies and Shaggy-bears keep the hype going in the village as they entertain and form dancing conga-lines with patrons.
Guest are also treated to many Bajan favourites like snow-cones, ham cutters, fishcakes and pigtail soup.

Celebrations of Rhythm – BAJAN VILLAGE LIME: 7pm
…Hang out in the village & mingle with the local characters...sample the bajan delicacies at the Food Stalls and peruse the items in the Craft Market
Styled in the manner of Oistins and Baxters Road, we treat guests to an old-fashioned Bajan lime featuring various traditional foods and delicacies, complete with live cooking stations.
Two main features of the village are the signature Rum Shop, where guest get to sample our famous rum punch and fruit juices, and the Cocktail Bar where tropical rum mixes are the order of the night. Guests also get a chance to compete in a cocktail-making competition.
While in the village persons will also have a chance to sit in on a game of dominoes or cards.
Traditional Characters in costume help bring the village to life…posing for pictures and interacting with guests.
Dotted in between; local craft vendors showcase their skills and ply their wares.
A popular Dj keeps the bajan vibes going, playing a range of “Rum Shop” tunes, including calypso, reggae and oldie-goldies.
A wide screen will add a modern touch to the village, featuring highlights from the show; advertising and general information on Barbados. Once the show commences patrons opting to stay in the village can watch the show on screen.

Rhythm forged on the backs of Africans brought from an ocean away forced to practice their culture and traditions in secret have flourished into sounds we know today. This is the story of the Africans’ melodies and sounds fusing with that of their English colonial masters creating new sounds, new instrument and new rhythms.
Tonight we celebrate!
...First, the rhythms of our heritage, as we take a look back to where it all began.
...Then, to The Mill Yard, the rhythm of our work! Where the sounds birthed in the fields fused with steel, metal and string on the plantation yards creating a whole new beat, the sound of work and play.
...Next, to the streets and dance halls where the African rhythms now dance on keyboards and cowbells. In the 70s it gave us the Sound of Spouge a uniquely Barbadian beat. Then fast forward to the 90s where Raga Soca beats breathed new life into modern day Soca music.
...And finally, to Tuk, the sound of the festival where the instruments of the Scottish Fife and Drum marching band play African rhythms to create our indigenous sound. The sound synonymous with; Mother Sally, Shaggy Bears and the Donkey Man.
To complete the circle, we celebrate the Rhythm and sounds of Grand Kadooment where dancers in carnival costume answer the call of the Steel Drums as we celebrate in true Bajan fashion.

Celebrations of Rhythm – BAJAN STREET PARTY: 9pm
…Rags & Whistles
Takes place directly after the show and is a continuation of the Bajan lime…the DJ and Tuk Band kicks the party into high gear as our stilt-walkers, carnival revellers and moko jumbies join the cast to dance and party with the guests…Bajan style!.
During this time, guests will again have the opportunity to have a cup of soup or sample more of the local delicacies available.
