BARBADOS NATIONAL CELEBRATIONS & PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Secular & Non-Secular Celebrations/ Religious Celebrations & National Holidays in Barbados...

In the Caribbean, many National Holiday Celebrations are influenced by heritage and individual island customs, and Barbados' Public Holidays are no different.

Annually, Barbados celebrates twelve National Holidays, which are locally called Bank Holidays, and are usually celebrated with music, dance, food, as well as through art & craft and a range of festivals.

In Barbados, Bajans traditionally use Bank Holidays to meet up with family and friends, usually at picnics, excursions or house limes. Beaches and recreational parks are mostly the choice for picnics, while island excursions can be via the popular Bank Holiday Bus Rides & Scenic Tours, or for those with cars, an island tour is the norm, usually with stops to eat and drink at sights in the northern and eastern parts of the island.

One thing is for sure, and that is most locals, at some time during the day, will end up at Farley Hill Park, King George Park, Three Houses Park, but especially Barclays Park or along the East Coast Road.

No matter the location for the celebration, you are guaranteed an abundance of real Barbadian food and lots of alcohol.

Note:
In Barbados, whenever the official date for a Public Holiday falls on a Sunday, the actual Bank Holiday is automatically transferred to the following Monday.
