A PUBLICATION OF BRIDGETOWN CRUISE TERMINALS INC. VOLUME 5 - JUNE 1998
Welcome to the Bridgetown Cruise Terminal |
A wedding is a sacred ceremony and is considered a very personal event. Planning for such an occasion is usually done at least six months to one year in advance, with endless choices to be made in order to make sure that every thing is perfect. The choice of attire, flowers, cake, venue and attendants is most often made by the bride-to-be who is well worn by the wedding day.
Well, Lori Sumner of the USA and her husband-to-be decided that the perfect spot for their wedding would be the shores of Barbados and that they would leave the planning up to Cheryl Gill-Eversley and Pansy Harewood of Bridgetown Cruise Terminals Inc. With just a few suggestions from the couple and the assistance of Sandy Beach Island Resort, we sat down to plan the perfect'island wedding'. We arranged from the bridal bouquet to the marriage licence and on March 25th, 1996 Lori and her groom Elmer Burkholder tied the nuptial knot in a beautiful garden ceremony with the white sandy beaches Lori requested in the background.
What began as a request by a cruise passenger six weeks before she was due to arrive in Barbados, turned into the wedding co-ordination service offered by Bridgetown CruiseTerminals Inc. We are now into our third year of offering this service to cruise passengers and crew, and so far it has been extremely successful.
With just basic suggestions or none at all, we can arrange a ceremony for cruise passengers even if the request is made on the morning of arrival, as in the case of Christine and Douglas Thomson who abandoned plans for a lavish ceremony in New York, to tie the knot in sunny Barbados.
"Things started to get really crazy," exclaimed Christine. "Like the flowers, I can't believe how you just picked up the phone, and in two minutes the flowers were all arranged. At home I was spending hours with the florist and that was only for my personal flowers."
In fact the couple were introduced to Mrs. Gill-Eversley on the morning of arrival aboard the Monarch of the Seas. "This has been really wonderful," said the couple about their sunshine nuptials. " We'll probably see you on our first anniversary."
With the laws of Barbados making it easy for cruise passengers and crew to exchange their wedding vows in a matter of hours, Bridgetown Cruise Terminal can take the worry out of planning by arranging everything you need. We'll arrange transportation, choose a venue, select witnesses and a minister, have a photographer on hand to capture your special moment and order your flowers and even cake.
So if you're thinking of tying the knot or just renewing your vows we've got just the place.
